We stayed at the Four Points Santiago for one night before leaving Chile after a week-long hike through Patagonia. The rate we booked included breakfast and a car from/to the airport (caveat: it was either TO or FROM the airport, not both!). The hotel was a fair bit of driving from the airport and we did run into traffic, so I'm glad we weren't in a taxi watching the meter spike upwards. At check-in, the gentleman was friendly but quite formal. He was one of only two people working and the desk was quite hectic with a number of check-ins and check-outs, so it seemed more a case of focus and efficiency than anything else. As an SPG Gold member, I received coupons for a free beer from the downstairs bar.
The rooms were spacious, modern and comfortable. More on par with what you might find in a Sheraton hotel in the USA. To be honest, after a week of camping in Patagonia, I could have slept on a bed of nails! So I'm probably not the best person to make any comments on the beds themselves. The bathroom was also well cared for. Overall, the rooms appeared to be of a high standard.
As we were quite keen to get the photos from our trip uploaded for our friends to see, we were able to use the computers in the business center free of charge. The staff there was lovely. There was no limitation on how much time we used the PCs and we stayed well past closing hours in the business center finishing up the uploads. The staff, however, was not very knowledgeable when it came to finding a restaurant. So, we ended up walking around for a couple hours and out of pure exhaustion chose a horrible place near the hotel that was clearly catering to tourists like us.
Breakfast the next morning was not as lavish as one might find in other international Starwood hotels. But the service was done with a smile and efficient. They served us drinks at our table and it was "help-yourself" to the hot foods, fruit and baskets of bread and pastries.
There is nothing in particular that would draw me back to this hotel. It was nice but completely unremarkable. I suppose that's what Four Points is all about.
