Westin hotel, Stamford, CT. By Philip Wade. After my last trip to Greenwich and having a less than impressive stay at the local Sheraton, I decided to try the Westin, which was only $20 more expensive on an internet rate. It was easy to find as it was visible from I-95 and the website directions were quite clear.

The location is in a corporate park and it is clearly a business hotel. The immediate area is other office buildings and parking lots, making the location seemingly safe but otherwise boring. There didn\'t seem to be much of anything you would walk to although shopping and restaurants were just a few miles away by car.

Check-in took a few minutes but was friendly and my reservation was all in order. Since this is a business hotel and I was there on the weekend, it seemed quite quiet and I think was the reason for my upgrade to a corner room, that had nice views of both the village on one side, and the water on the other. If you got too close to the window, you found you were overlooking the HVAC on a lower roof and the train tracks but from the bed or the desk, the view was lovely.

Westin hotel, Stamford, CT. By Philip Wade.Although the building is older and had that feel to it here and there, the room was very nicely appointed, well-lit, and had adequate work space and a confortable chair. Signs of being recently renovated were evident. The bathroom was large with the old style sink on the outside but lots of light and a big closet. The bed was definately heavenly.

Parking was done self and was under the hotel, although it required an elevator to the lobby, walk across the lobby, and then another elevator to the guestroom floors. Check out was painless on a quiet Sunday morning.

I would not hesitate to stay here again, particularly with a good internet weekend rate. It is a perfectly acceptable property with nice enough staff, but with well appointed rooms and a convenient location.

Thorough review, thanks!! I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years and it has gone from bad to a little better. I think they're making efforts to improve, but they haven't achieved "hallmark Westin" level yet, in my mind. Let's just say they have a lot of ground to make up!! As a Platinum, I am usually upgraded to at least a club room, once I got a suite. Last time I was there, the A/C in my room was kaput and the staff was very gracious and quickly moved my things into a new room. The bathrooms are always clean, which is important for me, and the executive club is decent, and has wireless internet. And, yes, there's a pool!!
