CIMG2448. By bpotstra. We've just returned from the Westin Trillium House in Collingwood, Ontario. The stay was comfortable for our family! Thank you, Westin, for a great vacation. I do not have elite status with Starwood, so I'm not sure how my experience compares with some of the other people on here. Check-in was busy, I think many people arrived around the same time as we did in the afternoon, but we still received good service after waiting in line for a bit. Parking was $15 a day.

Our family was pointed up to our room, which was modern and clean, decorated in earth tones. It did take us a while to get there, however, as the elevators were in the center of the building and our room was at the extremity of one wing. Nevertheless, the room greeted us warmly -- it even included a fireplace. I think it was called a "deluxe" suite. Like the Westin property in Whistler, the suite had a kitchenette with all the typical amenities, as well as plateware and silverware. There was a Heavenly Bed and the shower was Heavenly Bath as well. We put the kids on the pullout sofa, which housekeeping made up for us while we were at dinner. The view was delightful as well! We could not have asked for a better room.

Housekeeping was a bit of a disappointment. My wife was successful in finishing off our conditioner after two days, it was not replaced until I made mention of it to a housekeeper. Likewise, the in-room coffee was not replaced until day three when I mentioned it to someone. Same with the trash can in our room, which was not emptied. Nevertheless, in every case, the staff was apologetic and quickly made the situation right. From check-in to check-out, we encountered nothing but pleasant staff; but it would have been nice if they were on top of the little things like this.

We did not use room service during our stay, but dined twice at the restaurant. It was bustling and loud with live music; the place did not hold sound down very well. There were many families with children at the property while we were there. Oliver & Bonacini restaurant was overpriced, as they typically are, but the food was delicious; and the bar area is comfortable -- the Mrs. and I enjoyed a couple evenings down there after the kids were asleep.

Even during a relatively cold day, the pools were heated to a perfect temperature. There are a couple of pools outside and a couple of hot tubs. Canadians are not afraid to get a little wet in the winter, so why should we?! There is even a boating pond! The water park next door was always a hub of activity, so if you want some peace and quiet, ask for a room on the other side from here. Generally speaking, there were a lot of families at the property. If that's not your scene, then best to keep this in mind when you book a room here. Whether it's splashes in the pool or kids playing in the hotel, know what you're getting yourself into. I did not use the gym, but it looked great.

There is a small village that was constructed around the hotel, which was nice to saunter through and maybe grab a bite to eat.
