Le Meridien on Piccadilly Circle is located on the same street as Starwood's Park Lane property. Since I had already stayed there, I decided to try my luck at Le Meridien. I can't say it was the best experience.
At check-in the staff were fairly kind but just went through the business of getting me checked-in. Nothing wrong with that. The lobby area was great and in spotless condition. However, I've learned that this is often the case no matter where you stay. Sometimes I think hotels get their star ratings just based on the lobby...
I dragged my suitcases through the grim cooridors to my my room: it was a bit of a dump to be honest. Small, cramped, the furniture seemed old and the wallpaper was peeling in a few (small) places. The window faced a brick wall. Overall, not what I would have imagined on par with many of the Westin, Sheraton or even Four Points properties I have stayed at. I guess it's livable, but not four stars by my standards. The maids would come by in the evening to do a turndown service, which was quite nice.
My rate included a breakfast, so I took that every morning. I found the quality of the food and the cooking standards atrocious (raw bacon, mushy fruits, etc.). Why did I eat there everyday? It was free! can't imagine that anyway would pay 25 pounds or whatever they were charging for this buffet. At one point, I called one of the wait staff over, but he had a hard time understanding what I was saying.
As I said, it's located on the same street as the Park Lane hotel, but the Le Meridien is much closer to the tube station and is just steps away from Picadilly Circus. In fact, the one shining attribute of Le Meridien in London is its location, just around the corner from all the Regent Street shopping, and practically across the street from Fortnum & Mason. Even a Starbucks nearby. As is bound to happen in London, it rained. The concierge was kind enough to offer us her umbrella as we went just down the road to fetch some shopping.
As for next time, you'll find me up at the Park Lane property.

My experience at the Piccadilly was completely the opposite to yours.. I found the hotel to be much classier than the Sheraton Park Towers. I have never stayed at the park lane.
As a platinum, was upgraded to a junior suite on the 7th floor. I found the hallway/corridor very bright and modern. The room that i was in was very nice - no wallpaper, beautiful crown molding and side molding, elegant furnatures..
The terrace restaraunt on the 2nd floor was very good and reasonably priced. A 3 course menu was around 23 pounds.

Even though we were upgraded to a full suite due to my husband's platinum status, the Meridien Piccadilly badly needs an upgrade to its fixtures - the furniture and carpeting in our room were far from 5 or even 4 star quality - particularly as we had had the pleasure of staying at the Four Seasons Hampshire earlier in the week.
While our hallway was fine, we looked at some other rooms and they felt like rabbit warrens. We wouldn't have been able to fit all of our luggage in to one of the queen rooms we looked at on the eighth floor
